ronRon Sugyiama

Role: Parish Caretaker

Ron has been the caretaker at St. Paul’s since 1987 when he started with his mother Jane Sugiyama and has been an Anglican all his life. He was baptized right here at St. Paul’s and attended Sunday School regularly.
He got married to his wife Lynn at St. Paul’s 4 years ago and he enjoys hot rods, building engines and buying and selling cars. He is a very mechanical guy and can fix just about anything! He spends time every winter as a shift captain for the Out of the Cold Program and has been one since 2008. He is the “go to” guy in the building and we could not run the place with out him.
Dan Hines
Mentored by activist and writer Parker J. Palmer, Dan serves as a Courage & Renewal facilitator and leadership consultant for individuals and for business, educational, and religious organizations. As co-founder of the intentional community, RareBirds Housing Co-operative, he has a passion for exploring alternative living and a more sustainable relationship to the land. Dan serves as the Forestry Spokesperson for the BC Green Party.

Gordon Light

Role: Honorary Assistant
Gordon Light is married to Barb Liotscos and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren: Theresa in Port McNeill and her adult daughters Faith and Maggie; Matt and Heather, Ainsley and Nathan in Kelowna, Chris in Kamloops and Robin in Edmonton.
This is Gord’s 4th coming to St Paul’s: previously he was curate in 1969, Dean in 1984, Bishop in 2004. Gord was also rector at St George’s, Edmonton and St Luke’s Winnipeg, and was Principal Secretary to the Primate, Michael Peers, in Toronto.
Gord has also had a music ministry with the Common Cup Company for 35 years.


barbaraBarbara Liotscos

Barbara Liotscos married Gordon Light in 1992. She has two children, Jessica in Toronto, and Bill (and his wife Andrea) in North Vancouver.

Barb was ordained in Vancouver in 1980, was a priest in charge of Grace Church, Prince George, and incumbent of Church of Cleopas, Kamloops.

In Toronto Barb did a post grad degree in theology, focusing on liturgy and The Admission of Children to Communion in the Anglican Church of Canada. Barb was General Synod’s Consultant for Ministry and Worship before returning to Kelowna as Archdeacon of Kootenay. When Gord was elected Bishop for APCI, Barb ministered at St Timothy’s, 100 Mile House. Before retiring in 2011 Barb was rector of St Aidan’s in the Beach, Toronto.

Barb’s passion is the recognition and return of unceded territory and self determination to indigenous peoples.
