About 30 people (children, youth, parents, grandparents and volunteers) gathered for dinner on Friday February 16th. Following introductions, we had the return of the popular jokes and riddles, this time featuring bird jokes such as “Why do birds fly south for winter?” “Because it is too far to walk!”
After dinner, we danced the chicken dance and played a migratory bird tag game. The predators tried to grab the ribbon tail of the “birds” migrating to their nesting area.

Next, the younger children heard a story about a chickadee. Did you know that the memory area of a chickadee’s brain grows during winter, so that they can remember where they have stored their food? The children made some pinecone birdfeeders and did some bird paintings using palm prints.

Meanwhile the youth were doing bird drawings with Melissa
