We have a number of worship services. Times and information about each of these services can be found on the Worship Information Page. Below is an overview of our most popular worship service, the 10 am Sunday Service.
When you enter the cathedral for the 10 am Sunday Service, you will be welcomed by a greeter. They will provide you with a leaflet, which will help to guide you through the service. If you need assistance during the service, members of the congregation are happy to assist you. Please sit where ever you feel comfortable.
Hymns are sung throughout the service by the congregation using various hymn books found in the pews. Hymn numbers and book are indicated in the leaflet.
The service begins with prayers to gather the community.
Next there are readings from the Bible, concluding with a Gospel reading. A sermon is given based on the day’s readings. This is followed by Prayers of the People which are led by a member of the congregation.
The Peace will be said and people will greet one another. Please participate as you feel comfortable.
Following the Peace, an offering is collected. If you would like to contribute to the offering, simply place cash or a cheque on the plate, when it is passed to you. If not, simply pass it to the next person. If you would like to receive a tax receipt for your offering, place it in an envelop with your name and mailing address. While traditional offering envelopes are available, most parishioners now contribute through electronical offering. Call the office for information on how to setup electronic contributions.
The Celebration of the Eucharist and Communion are next. Everyone is welcome to receive the bread and wine. The priest will invite people to come forward to the front of the church to receive it. The greeter will direct you when to come forward.
You may stand or kneel, which ever you prefer. If you wish to receive bread and/or wine put your hands out to receive it. If you would prefer to receive a blessing, put you hands at your sides.
Gluten-free bread is available on request.
If you would like to receive communion, but have mobility issues, please let the greeter know and it will be given at your seat.
During communion, the choir will perform a selection of inspirational music to enhance the communion experience.
The service is closed with the prayer after Communion and Dismissal.
A coffee time is offered following the 10 am Sunday Service in the Church Hall which can be accessed through the right archway at the front of the church.
