Celebration of the Launch of Alive, Loved and Free

On February 2nd, following the 10 am Service, the congregation was treated to a reading from the Dean’s new book ” Alive, Loved and Free: Finding Jesus When Faith is Hard” The book was launched February 1st and is now available on Amazon. The congregation joined in celebrating with Kyle with a beautiful cake made by Rae Long.

Notes from the back cover read “We like to think faith will be an endless walk on easy street, but often find it’s more like an uphill struggle. Maybe it’s a feeling of lacking livelihood in our faith, maybe it’s a struggle with prayer, or lack of desire to read the Bible, but the result is that we feel discouraged and alone. Compounding this problem is the fact that we rarely talk about this discouragement in our spiritual communities. We pretend that such time’s don’t exist. But they do exist, and we all know it. Scripture knows it too. From Moses to the Psalmists, from the laments of Jeremiah to the struggles of the disciples, the life of faith has always included hard or discouraging times. But scripture also presents a deeper truth. When we walk through dark valleys, God is with us.”
